Elijah had a sport's theme party for his 8th birthday. We rented the gym at Mt. Scott Community Center and Steve coordinated flag football, soccer and other games. I had fun making my first fondant birthday cake.
For Steve's birthday in 2015, I purchased Mariner's tickets for Steve and Elijah. The whole family went to Seattle and the boys enjoyed a Mariner's game, while Alora and I went to the Pacific Science Center and enjoyed walking around Seattle Center.
Alora and Steve hiked through Oeneta gorge in August of 2015. The gorge is usually only accessible for two or three months when the water levels are low. I will always remember this day because it will remind me of Alora's sense of adventure. She braved the log jam, waded through waist deep water, and hiked the narrow canyon.
The kids attended Journey Theater camp for the first time during the summer of 2015 with Abigail and Isaac Korenthal. The play that they put on was Aristocrats and they enjoyed singing and dancing. Elijah received on of the main roles as Toulouse - one of the Aristocat kittens.
We call Elijah "mini-me" because he is so much like Steve (messy, funny, quick to laughter, big-hearted, friends with everyone, football lover). Not only does he look and act like his dad; he hero worships his dad.
His favorite toys continue to be Super Heros and he does not give up an opportunity to wear Super Hero costumes. However sports are now his favorite activity - basketball, football, t-ball, etc.
He loves to write stories and draw pictures. His walls are covered with Star Wars, Lego Ninjago, and Despicable Me drawings he has done.
ALORA
Alora has the most tender heart. She is always willing to help her friends, her teacher, and her mom. When she went to gymnastic camp this spring break, we were told that she would help all the "injured" kids get water, etc.
She continues to LOVE animals and has no interest in dolls or princesses. She has a huge Build-A-Bear collection and more stuffed animals then her room can accommodate! She dreams of having her own cat one day.
At this moment (it is constantly changing) her two favorite activities are swimming and bike riding.
